Browse the latest Maypole Tipi news, including coronavirus (COVID-19) updates, and options for smaller tipi weddings that adapt to the rather fluid and unusual situation we all find ourselves in.
The situation continues to evolve and we will be guided by official government advice and instruction. Our customers mean everything to us, and as you would expect, we have offered all our customers every flexibility. All have rescheduled events and weddings, or reserved protected backup dates in 2021 and 2022. We have therefore now opened up bookings for 2023. Keep up to date here or contact us if you have any concerns.
We have exciting plans for 2021, so rest assured, we will continue investing for the future at Maypole Tipi. We are pleased to see that small wedding ceremonies remain possible in both England and Wales, and that small wedding receptions can continue in Shropshire & Staffordshire (tier 1 – Medium) and Cheshire (tier 2 – High), albeit limited to 15 guests in total in England since the 28th September 2020 (see section 2.9 in link below). Have a look at our Small Weddings section for further details.
The UK Government guidance has recently changed again. In England, in tier 1 areas, small outdoor gatherings of up to 6 people from different households are permitted, provided social distancing in maintained between people from different households, whilst in Wales up to 30 people can meet outdoors until Friday 23rd October 2020 when the new Welsh lockdown commences. See link below for detailed government guidance on gatherings in England.
Small weddings ceremonies for up to 15 people are still currently permitted in England, as are wedding receptions for up to 15 people in tier 1 and 2 areas. [Updated 19th October 2020]. In Wales wedding ceremonies may continue during the new lockdown, but wedding receptions in Wales will not be allowed after Friday 23rd October during the new Welsh lockdown period. [Updated 19th October 2020]
We are still able to offer both small wedding receptions in a COVID secure environment, along with all of our heated tipis for small gatherings this autumn and winter in England (tier 1 & 2 areas), and hope to be able to offer them again in Wales once the new lockdown period ends, in compliance with the government guidelines. [Updated 19th October 2020]
We will build all our tipis whilst maintaining social distancing and we will continue, as always, to clean thoroughly, and allow sufficient time between hires, to further minimise risks of cross contamination. Included in our tipi hire price is a hand sanitising “penguin” allowing guests a fun and unobtrusive hand cleaning facility. We also continue to be anaphylactic aware.
Church of England Coronavirus (COVID-19) guidance
The Church of England are reviewing their guidance, as of 24th September 2020, with respect to new restrictions of no more than 15 people at a wedding ceremony from 28th September in England.
Wedding ceremonies can currently take place however.

Life changes, but some things remain the same, and if you are both happy to adapt your plans to fit the current situation that we find ourselves in, then maybe a smaller, but still very special wedding might be something you would like to consider. With many of us working or remaining at home currently, have you considered creating an additional space, using one of our Baby tipis ?
We can create an amazing pop up room for a week or longer. This could be somewhere memorable to celebrate that special anniversary, in place of your original plans, maybe a garden office, or just more space for a while, all within your garden.
We have three Baby Tipis available, one with a wooden floor, and two with matted floor. We can build them, whilst remaining socially isolated from your family, in just a day. An optional indirect heater is also available if required. Please get in touch for more details.
Having your wedding ceremony outside can be a truly wonderful experience, but we all know the British weather, even in summer, sometimes can be a challenge.
So for a light and airy outdoor wedding, but with a little protection, we have our new oak cruck frame ceremony structure, to perfectly compliment our tipis, at our venue.
